2.1 Information You Provide Directly

• Training applications — submitted through the NAPTIN portal, which has its own privacy practices; PMI may receive applicant data from NAPTIN for programme coordination purposes.
• Meter requests — if you apply for a smart meter through your Distribution Company (DisCo), your information is collected and processed by that DisCo. PMI may receive aggregated or specific customer data from DisCos for programme monitoring and reporting purposes.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Usage data — pages visited, time spent on the site, links clicked, browser type, device type, and approximate location (derived from IP address).
• Cookies and similar technologies — small data files stored on your device to help our website function properly and to understand how visitors use our site. See Section 7 below for more detail.

2.3 Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect sensitive personal data (such as health information, biometric data, or financial account details) through this website unless explicitly required for a specific government service, in which case a separate notice will apply.

We use the information we collect to:

• Respond to enquiries submitted through our Contact Us form
• Send newsletter updates to subscribers who have opted in
• Monitor and improve the performance and security of our website
• Track and report on the progress of the national metering rollout (using aggregated, non-identifying data wherever possible)
• Coordinate with NAPTIN and DisCo partners on training and meter deployment logistics

• Distribution Companies (DisCos) — for the purpose of processing meter applications and installations.
• NAPTIN (National Power Training Institute of Nigeria) — for the purpose of coordinating installer training and certification.
• NEMSA (Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency) — for technical and regulatory coordination related to meter testing and certification.
• Government agencies and regulators — where required by law, regulation, or a valid legal process.
• Service providers — third parties who help us operate our website (e.g. web hosting, email delivery), who are contractually required to protect your data and use it only for the purpose we specify.

We do not share your personal information with any party for their own independent marketing purposes.

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this policy, or as required by Nigerian law. Contact form submissions and newsletter subscriptions are retained until you request deletion or unsubscribe. Programme-related data (such as meter applications or training records) is retained in accordance with the record-keeping requirements of the relevant government agency or DisCo.

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
• Request deletion of your data, where applicable
• Withdraw consent for newsletter communications at any time (via the unsubscribe link in any email, or by contacting us directly)
• Object to certain types of processing
• Lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) if you believe your data has been mishandled
