Terms of Service
Effective Date: June 18, 2026Last Updated: June 18, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the official website of the Presidential Metering Initiative, located at pmi.com.ng (the "Site"), operated on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria. By accessing or using this Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use this Site.
2. About This Site
The Presidential Metering Initiative (PMI) is a multi-stream infrastructure programme of the Federal Government of Nigeria, approved by His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in November 2023, to close Nigeria's electricity metering gap and improve transparency, reliability, and accountability in the power sector. This Site is provided for informational purposes and to facilitate access to PMI-related programmes, including smart meter applications (via Distribution Companies) and installer training (via NAPTIN).
This Site does not itself process meter installations or training enrolments — these are handled by our partner agencies (DisCos and NAPTIN respectively), and your interactions with those parties through links from this Site may be subject to their own separate terms.
3. Use of the Site
You agree to use this Site only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of, or restrict or inhibit the use and enjoyment of, this Site by any third party. Prohibited uses include, but are not limited to:
- Attempting to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Site, its servers, or any connected systems
- Introducing viruses, malware, or any other technologically harmful material
- Using automated systems (bots, scrapers) to extract data from the Site without our prior written consent
- Impersonating PMI, its officials, or any government entity
- Submitting false, misleading, or fraudulent information through any form on the Site
- Using the Site in any way that could damage, disable, or impair its operation
4. Intellectual Property
All content on this Site — including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, the PMI emblem, images, video, and the overall design and layout — is the property of the Presidential Metering Initiative or its licensors, and is protected by Nigerian and international intellectual property laws, unless otherwise stated.
You may view, download, and print content from this Site for your own personal, non-commercial use, provided you do not modify the content and you retain all copyright and proprietary notices. Any other use — including reproduction, distribution, public display, or creation of derivative works — requires our prior written permission.
5. Third-Party Links
This Site contains links to third-party websites and services, including but not limited to:
- NAPTIN (pmi.naptin.gov.ng) — for installer training applications
- Distribution Company (DisCo) websites — for smart meter applications
- NEMSA — for technical and regulatory information
These links are provided for your convenience. We do not control, and are not responsible for, the content, privacy practices, or terms of use of any third-party site. Your use of any third-party site is governed by that site's own terms and policies.
6. No Cost to Consumers
Smart meters provided under the PMI programme are supplied and installed at no direct cost to eligible customers, in accordance with the programme's published terms. Any request for payment in connection with obtaining a free meter under this programme should be reported immediately to your DisCo and to PMI through the contact details below — such requests are not authorised by this programme.
7. Accuracy of Information
We make every reasonable effort to ensure that the information on this Site is accurate and up to date. However, PMI does not warrant that all information on the Site is complete, accurate, or current at all times, and reserves the right to make changes and corrections at any time without notice. Statistics, figures, and programme details (such as metering targets and timelines) are subject to revision as the programme progresses.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PMI, its affiliated agencies, officers, and employees shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, this Site, including but not limited to reliance on any information provided on the Site, except where such liability cannot be excluded under Nigerian law.

10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of this Site shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Nigeria.
